Pedestrian safety precautions more important than ever in Paradise Valley

Country’s second most pedestrian fatalities occur in Arizona

With surrounding mountain views and rural neighborhoods, walkers and bikers fill the roads in the Town of Paradise Valley, but pedestrians must take precautions as a recent report showed that Arizona is the second worst state for pedestrian deaths.

This statistic hits home as a fatal collision wracked Paradise Valley in January when John Wintersteen, 78 of Paradise Valley, and Nooraly Lalji, 47 of Phoenix, were hit and killed by two cars while attempting to help Wintersteen’s injured dog in the road.

Another high profile accident in town occurred in November 2015 when Paige Dembow, daughter of a former council member, struck and killed Howard Brown while he was walking his dog.
