Man lying in street killed in central Phoenix

A 41-year-old man was killed Monday in a collision, Phoenix Police said Thursday in a release.

Officers responded about 10:11 p.m. April 6 to the area of 15th Street and Thomas Road regarding a collision involving a pedestrian, according to a release.

When officers arrived, they found a man, later identified as Joseph Virgil, with serious injuries. Virgil was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died. The vehicle involved in the collision left the scene prior to police arrival.
