Pedestrian dies in West Valley collision, investigation underway

A woman died at a hospital following a Friday evening crash as she was crossing West Van Buren Street, police said.

The collision occurred about 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 near 51^st Avenue and Van Buren Street. Phoenix officers arrived to find the woman, who has not been identified, and she was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene. Impairment is not believed to be a factor, but an investigation is continuing, police said.
