Pedestrian dies following Central Phoenix hit-and-run

A man died at a hospital after being struck by a vehicle Friday night near 7th Street and McDowell Road, Phoenix police said.

The driver fled the scene following the collision that occurred about 11:30 p.m. Jan. 10, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.

Preliminary information suggests the unidentified man was crossing 7th Street in a crosswalk, but against the light, when he was hit by the vehicle as it headed south.

Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Witness at 480(WITNESS) or 480(TESTIGO) and provide an anonymous tip. Rewards will be paid for information leading to an arrest, police said.
