Pedestrian dead after north Phoenix collision

A woman died Saturday night after being hit by a vehicle near 19th Avenue and Cactus Road, Phoenix police said.

Detectives are investigating the collision, but preliminary information suggests the woman was crossing 19th Avenue midblock about 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14 when she was struck by the vehicle traveling north on 19th Avenue.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, and impairment is not believed to be a factor, police said.
