Despite several triple-digit temperatures throughout the summer, one outdoor sport continues to have players show up to the court ready to play.
The Sun City West Pickleball Club, during the off-peak season, typically has one additional member added to the club, but this summer that was not the case. Forty-five new members joined, which is unheard of, Eileen Freydberg, Sun City West Pickleball Club president, said.
Currently, the club has 1,564 members, all vying for one of 26 courts at two different Sun City West pickleball facilities. She said in 2021, pickleball grew to 4.8 million players across the country.
