SUN CITY WEST - Paul J. Marx passed away in Sun City West, Az. on Jan. 23, 2016. He was born on Oct. 21,1927 to John Marx and Theresa (West) Marx in Scranton, Pa. He married Alice R. Keegan on Oct. 6, 1951 and together they had four children, Paul (Moneta, Va.), Gary (San Ramon, Calif.), Keith (Chicago, Ill.) and Maria (Denver, Colo.). Paul served in the U.S. Army at Fort Jackson in South Carolina from 1950 to 1952, reaching the rank of Sergeant. He retired from Sears after 31 years of service at sites in Pennsylvania and at the Sears Tower in Chicago. He and Alice moved to Sun City West in 1987 where they both were involved in ministries at their church, Our Lady of Lourdes, and as Vincentians in the Society of St Vincent de Paul. Paul served Saint Vincent de Paul as president of the local Chapter and as a board member for the Society of the greater Phoenix area and as a board member of Catholic Charities. He is predeceased by his wife, Alice; and his sister, Rosalina Burns. He is survived by his children, his brothers, Robert Marx and Jack Marx both of Scranton; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. A Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Sun City West at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 with committal service at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City following the mass. The family requests that any memorial you wish to make be donated to St Vincent de Paul of the greater Phoenix area or your local chapter of the Society.
