Pat’s Run returns to Tempe April 15 for 19th year

Pat’s Run, a 4.2-mile event celebrating the legacy of Pat Tillman, will take place for the 19th time on Saturday in Tempe.

The course winds its way through the city and finishes at the 42-yard line at Sun Devil Stadium.

The race, which begins at 7 a.m. Saturday, April 15, followed by the Kids’ Run at 10 a.m., honors Tillman, an Arizona State University alumnus who left his professional football career with the Arizona Cardinals to enlist in the U.S. Army in May 2022 following 9/11.

Tillman was killed in the mountains of Afghanistan by friendly fire and received the Silver Star and Purple Heart posthumously.

The event attracts hundreds of runners and supports the Pat Tillman Foundation.

All participants — in Tempe, at a Tillman Honor Run or virtually — will receive a limited-edition Sport-Tek race shirt, according to a city release.
