SUN CITY WEST - Patricia Ann (McMahon) Foster much-loved wife, mother, sister, and friend died peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at Banner Hospice in Sun City West, Ariz. She was born March 23, 1938, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Mary McMahon. Pat spent her youth in Wesley and Pocahontas, Iowa. After graduating from Pocahontas Catholic High School in 1956, she attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, where she met her best friend and love of her life, Raymond S. Foster of Aledo, Ill. In 1959, they married and soon settled in Aledo where Pat worked as a secretary and Ray as a pharmacist. It was in Aledo that their three daughters and one son were born. The family moved to Princeton, Ill., in 1966. In addition to raising their four children, Pat worked as a children's librarian in Princeton at both Lincoln Elementary School and Matson Public Library. Pat was active in the League of Women Voters and Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed reading, bridge, camping, and exploring family genealogy. Pat relished traveling with Ray. Together, they saw most of the US, including Hawaii and Alaska, visited Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Panama, Mexico, many Caribbean countries, and drove their RV across Canada. She is survived by her four children: Rae Foster and Julie Foster of Moline, Illinois; Paul Foster of Phoenix, Arizona; Carol Foster (David Flory) of Goodyear, Arizona; three grandchildren: Megan Foster, Nicole (Joshua) Sides, Zavier Foster, as well as, one great-grandchild: Ayla Sides. She is also survived by four siblings: Mary Lou Rosacker of Mason City, Iowa; Richard (Sonna) McMahon of Latimer, Iowa; Jean (Larry) Bell and James (Laurel) McMahon of Garner, Iowa. She leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. Preceding her in death are her mother and father, Mary (Kent) and Thomas McMahon, father-in-law, Charles Foster, brother-in-law, Gene Rosacker, sister-in-law, Sue (Foster) Stewart, brother-in-law, Mike Stewart, and nephew, Tanner Pals. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her illnesses. A memorial will be held in Iowa at a later date. Arrangements were provided by Sunland Memorial Park & Mortuary.
