Patricia Ann Cardinal

Patricia A (Sanders) Cardinal, 90, former resident of Paris IL and Petersburg IN, passed peacefully of natural causes on April 17th, 2022, at her group home in Scottsdale, AZ surrounded by her husband David, son Kyle, and daughter in law Jill Cardinal. Patricia was born May 7th, 1931, in Paris IL, daughter of late Francis D. Sanders and late Faye L. (Cash) Sanders. Patricia had a younger brother William “Bub” F. Sanders who passed in 1951 in an auto accident. Patricia moved to Petersburg to live with her aunt and attended Petersburg HS where she met David Cardinal. The above photo is their engagement picture from February 1951, Patricia was 19 and David was 20 years old. They were married for 71 years until her passing. Patricia’s husband David was enlisted in the U.S.A.F. for 26 years and they lived on AFBs in Sioux City IA, Madrid Spain, Clovis NM, Colorado Springs CO, Oahu HI, back to Clovis NM, and settled in Glendale AZ, and eventually moved to Sun City West AZ to enjoy their senior years. Patrica is survived by her two sons Keith in Eagle ID, and Kyle in Scottsdale AZ, four grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Patricia was a home maker and while raising the boys and running the home would often join the local AFB “wives” clubs or work at the Base Exchange or Base Thrift Store. Patricia loved to bake and was always trying new recipes to please her family and friends. Patricia was also an animal lover and volunteered at animal shelters and considered her dogs as family. Patricia and David will rest in eternity at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City West, AZ.
