Webb Grigsby, SUN CITY WEST - Patricia 'Patti' Alexandra Webb Grigsby, passed away on Monday, March 5th, 2012, at her home in Sun City West, Az., with her husband of 63 years, and their children with her. Patti was born in Auckland, New Zealand on September 16th, 1923, and spent her early years as a performer in a family owned traveling circus. Patti performed many different circus skills and excelled at the violin, winning a British Empire Competition while in her early teens. She came to the U.S. in 1936 at age 13, and played violin as concert mistress and soloist in several Los Angeles orchestras. She graduated from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, which she loved, and where she earned top awards for her contributions to her school and community. Patti graduated from the University of Southern California, where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, with a B.S. degree in Commerce. While attending USC, she also worked full time as secretary for the school's Athletic Department. In 1948, Patti married Hubert (Hugh) Grigsby, a Naval Aviator, the love of her life, and for the next twenty years she traveled extensively as a Navy wife. Following Hugh's retirement from the Navy in 1963, they settled in California where Patti worked in management positions in the insurance and leverage leasing industries. Following Hugh's retirement from a second career in international banking, the couple moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Rancho Santa Fe in Southern California. In 1994, they moved to Sun City West, Az. where they enjoyed a very full and happy retirement. Patti is especially remembered for her genuine and joyous smile, her warmth and her love and devotion to family, friends, neighbors and just about everyone else she had the opportunity to meet and enjoy throughout her life. She will also be remembered as a person who saw only the best in everyone she met and because of that touched the hearts of so many. Patti is survived by her devoted husband, Hugh; her sons, Bob and Doug; daughters-in-law, Linda and Laura; and her grandchildren, Colin and Ben. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley (623) 583-4848, which along with her family provided loving care for Patti as her life here came softly to a close. A memorial service will be held later this year in the San Francisco Bay Area, where much of her life was lived and enjoyed. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her family and many, many friends.
