Pastor: Cota must resign from PUHSD Governing Board

OPINION — I am both a resident and product of the Phoenix Union High School District, having graduated from East Phoenix High School in 1982.

I recently returned to Phoenix after attending college in Texas, where I did substitute teaching in elementary, middle and high school classrooms. I have developed a fondness for educating young minds. I am reminded of a quote by Yeats, who said, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”

So, it disturbed me greatly when I learned that a Governing Board member was photographed attending a political event tied to groups with documented connections to white supremacist and neo-Nazi ideology. This has been widely reported both locally and across social media.
