In an effort to avoid a repeat of last year’s deadly summer, nonprofits and faith-based organizations have strengthened their ties to municipalities and the county to keep residents alive.
“What I’ve been noticing is that many other organizations, municipalities, schools of social work and Department of Health Services are getting more involved,” said Arene Rushdan, community resilience program manager for the Arizona Faith Network. “The coordination and partnerships and assistance are really coming in and we’re all trying to work together.”
