At its Feb. 8 meeting, the Chandler City Council gave preliminary approval to a list of more than a dozen code amendments — a broad, sweeping list that includes parking, space requirements and a lot more.
One of the parking changes is for apartments and other types of multifamily housing. If given final approval later this month, the amendment would require specific numbers of parking for units reserved for residents qualified for affordable housing.
This will only apply to future construction and Chandler and other cities are stuck with high-density housing which, by design, doesn’t have enough parking spaces for each resident who might have a vehicle.
