Parents to Chandler Council: Do more to keep teens safe

Education, communication and the need for more-involved parenting — those were the main themes that came out of the Chandler City Council’s lengthy dialogue about teen safety at Thursday night’s meeting.

Set in motion largely by the October murder of teen Preston Lord in Queen Creek, local governments and school districts throughout the East Valley have been discussing teen violence more often.

Thursday was the first time the Chandler City Council took on the subject since Lord’s death, though no formal votes or action were taken regarding public safety.
