After the hoopla of the Olympics is over, events continue with the Paralympics, the largest sporting event for people with physical disabilities.
This year, Joe Jackson, a Chandler native who now lives in Maricopa, will be part of the wheelchair rugby team representing the U.S. in Tokyo. The Paralympics have been a goal for Jackson since he was 16.
After several years of making the team but not the traveling squad, 2021 has proven to be Jackson’s year. He’s headed to Tokyo to take part in the Paralympics, which run Aug. 24 through Sept. 5.
