Paradise Valley’s first chief of police dies

Peter Wainwright, a longtime Paradise Valley resident who served as the town’s first chief of police and volunteered on the Town Council, died Jan. 26.

He was 95.

Mr. Wainwright was a World War II veteran and is credited with amassing an epic collection of historic firearms and military memorabilia — a hobby that earned him the title of a “great concessioner” in the collection world.
