Paradise Valley resident Gadin Arun (15) is making a name for himself on the tennis world stage. He and his teammates qualified for the finals in the Davis Cup Juniors division after besting teams from Mexico (3-0), Dominican Republic (3-0) and Canada (2-1).

The U.S. qualified for the finals in all four premier junior team competitions, with each team finishing first in its qualifying group competition held April 15-17 at IGA Stadium in Montreal, Canada.

The qualifying rounds consisted of three days of round-robin play, with each matchup including two singles and one doubles match. The U.S. teams all went 3-0 in their respective round-robin groups.

The USA will now compete in the finals of the 16-and-under Junior Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup, which will be held later this year at a site and a date to be confirmed, and the 14-and-under ITF World Junior Finals, held August 3-6 in Prostejov, Czechia.

The U.S. is the reigning champions in three of the four categories – Junior Billie Jean King Cup, Junior Davis Cup and World Junior Tennis Girls. The U.S. is the four-time reigning champion in Junior Billie Jean King Cup and two-time reigning champion in Junior Davis Cup after becoming the first nation to ever sweep those titles in consecutive years last year.

Arun’s teammates on the Davis Cup Juniors team included Izyan Ahmad of Wayne, N.J., Teador Davidov of Bradenton, Fla. Team captain and is USTA Lead National Coach Sylvain Guichard.
