In “changing hearts and minds,” the theme of Paradise Valley’s 26th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration, the town reflected upon the oneness of humanity.
“In nature, we can see an infinite variety of colors. The reality is that all these colors are the reflection of one thing: light resonating at varying frequencies. Each and every one of us is a unique frequency of that one light,” said Dr. Nafys Samandari who spoke on the Bahá’i principle of oneness.
The Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Paradise Valley organizes MLK’s annual celebration in conjunction with the Town of Paradise Valley. Amongst the Bahá’i faith’s many teachings is the affirmative acknowledgement that racism is America’s most vital and challenging issue, said Sheila Afnan-Manns who emceed the event. She and her parents are members of the Bahá’i faith and moved to Scottsdale in August 2007.
