Paradise Valley readies redistricting arguments as Independent Redistricting Commission eyes new political pockets

If preliminary redistricting maps come to fruition, the Town of Paradise Valley — a relatively small, 14,500-resident community — could be divided up into four legislative districts.

“It is untenable to be in four legislative districts. Completely untenable,” said Doug Cole, Paradise Valley’s paid lobbyist.

The Town of Paradise Valley is located within Legislative District 28, but new boundary maps created from the 2020 census show the town being divvied up — a move town officials agree won’t be accommodating.
