Paradise Valley Police warn public of impersonation scam

The Paradise Valley Police Department is warning the public about a scam where a person has been calling Arizona residents and impersonating a sergeant.

The subject is identifying themselves as Sgt. Derek Hoelscher, asking people to call them back at phone number 480-934-0534 and is most likely asking for personal identifying information or financial compensation, officials say.

“This is not a phone number to anyone at the police department and has been identified as a fraudulent scheme,” officials said in a press release. “The police department will never request financial compensation for any warrants or fines.”
