July 24, 2023, 3 p.m.: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that the “Sirens and Sleigh Bells” event volunteers helped run has yet to return since the pandemic. "Sirens and Sleigh Bells” has never stopped and last year almost 250 students attended.
Paradise Valley Police Department’s volunteers are an integral part of the agency, which wouldn’t be the same without them.
They are the eyes and ears of sworn police officers, often providing crime deterrent by their presence. The police volunteer program has been ongoing for 20 years, and volunteers help with everything from vacation watches and traffic control to missing persons, fundraisers and vehicle servicing.
