Raun Melmed felt misunderstood as a boy, and as a developmental pediatrician who works with children who have developmental challenges, he has decided to write books that offer tools to address difficulties with self-esteem, anger management, stress, anxiety, bullying and more.
Melmed is a Paradise Valley resident and author of “Marvin’s Monster Diary,” a series of seven books on mindfulness for children. He works as the director of Melmed Center, now Cortica Care, as well as co-founder and medical director of the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center.
“It impacted my self-esteem being misunderstood and not knowing why,” Melmed said. “I felt occasionally let down by the adult world. That’s really the reason I often write is to try to explore my own self. And that opportunity to get to know myself better by trying to dig a little deeper.”
