Paradise Valley 6-year-old breaks standing long jump record

Hunter Howard bests previous record, also set in Arizona

Six-year-old Paradise Valley resident Hunter Howard set a new mark in the boys’ standing long jump on April 28, 2026, edging past a record that stood for nearly a decade.

Hunter jumped 1.88 meters, breaking the previous record for his age group of 1.85 meters held by Logan Zhang since 2017.

Like Hunter’s record-breaking jump, Zhang’s previous mark was also set in Arizona at Chandler High School.
