Paradise Honors softball made the routine play on a sacrifice bunt in the top of the seventh and readied for one more high leverage situation — a runner on second base with two outs and the top of the Arcadia lineup at bat.
Except the Titans runner at second base had other ideas, rounding the bag and racing for third. Panthers junior second baseman Marlee Freeman, covering first to get the out on the bunt, stayed present and happily threw to third in time for the tag and the final out.
No. 4 Paradise Honors (25-3) held on for the 4-3 win over No. 5 Arcadia (23-8) May 5 in Surprise to stay in the 4A softball winners bracket.
