Seven crimes were reported in 2020 at two of Central Arizona College’s five campuses — down from 20 in 2019 at two campuses, according to a federally mandated campus-security report released in October.
Restrictions put in place for the COVID-19 pandemic contributed to the decrease, CAC Police Chief Greg Roberts said,
“The decrease in crime at Central Arizona College campuses in 2020 is due to COVID. The majority of classes were held online. Because of COVID, minimal students were living on campus. Also, during the campus closures, gates were locked and to access campuses all visitors had to check-in with an on-duty officer,” he said.
