PHOENIX – Two suspects have been charged with conspiring to distribute fentanyl in Phoenix.
Jose Angel Gonzalez-Carrillo, 46, of Modesto, Calif., and Ethyel Aldahyr Ontiveros-Flores, 25, of Mazatlan, Mexico, were arrested June 2 when authorities said Gonzalez-Carrillo coordinated the sale of approximately 10,000 fentanyl pills to a “purported third party” in Phoenix, according to a release from the Arizona district of the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Ontiveros-Flores delivered the initial batch of pills, as well as a second delivery of more than 90,000 pills later that same day, authorities said, adding Gonzalez-Carrillo also coordinated that arrangement.

Ontiveros-Flores delivered the initial batch of pills, as well as a second delivery of more than 90,000 pills later that same day, authorities said, adding Gonzalez-Carrillo also coordinated that arrangement.
After the second delivery, law enforcement officers arrested Gonzalez-Carrillo and Ontiveros-Flores.
During a subsequent search of property belonging to Ontiveros-Flores, law enforcement officers discovered more than 200,000 additional fentanyl pills, as well as nine packages containing fentanyl powder, each weighing approximately a kilogram, the release stated.
A conviction for possessing 400 grams or more of fentanyl for distribution carries a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life in prison, a fine of up to $10 million and a term of supervised release of at least five years, up to life.
