Owners of Peoria farm begin laying plans for its legacy

Rovey family starts process for new master-planned development in Peoria, Glendale

A family that has laid down a farming presence in the West Valley for more than 60 years is now working to lay down its legacy in the form of a new master-planned development near Northern and 83rd avenues that will cover two cities and nearly 350 acres.

Rovey Family Farms has operated in the area since 1943 and has decided to slowly phase out its operations and rezone its property with a number of different land uses, amounting to a complex zoning case.

Paul Gilbert, a land use lawyer with Phoenix-based Beus Gilbert McGroder who represents the family, said with operations planned to continue as development occurs, the Rovey family did not want this project to go forward piecemeal.
