Cave Creek school district sees continued exodus as staff resignations mount

The district has lost about 20% of their overall staff

The Cave Creek Unified school board approved another 46 staff terminations at its June 23 board meeting.

This brings the count of terminated contracts to 104, which is about 20% of total staff count from the beginning of the year, according to the district’s website.

“Nobody is happy about this,” said board member Jeff Fortney during the April 7 meeting, when the board approved the termination of 14 contracts. “My heart goes out to the folks that are dealing with this, and that’s everybody — that’s the principals, that’s the people that have to make these decisions.”
