The Higley Unified School District’s fiscal year 2023-24 budget, which garnered preliminary approval from the governing board this week, includes a one-time primary property tax rate increase of $0.16 per $100 assessed valuation.
The levy would increase $1.5 million and would be adjacent ways and means funding to improve sidewalks, roadways and the public rights of way that would improve traffic flow by school property across the district, but primarily at Williams Field High School and the district’s middle schools. The levy would be for one year only.
The budgets were approved on a 3-1 vote June 7 with Board Member Anna Van Hoek voting in dissent specifically because of the levy. Board Member Kristina Reese was absent.
