Officials: New rules for groundwater won’t hinder development

The Valley’s business and economic leaders are battling back against bad headlines focusing on the state’s water woes.

This week, Sarah Porter of the Kyl Center for Water Police at Arizona State University, Chris Camacho of the Phoenix Economic Council, and Michael Pearce, a water law attorney for Gammage and Burnham attended a special meeting at the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to talk about what’s going on with water and how it could impact the region’s future growth.

Officials were concerned over a negative reaction from potential developers over a New York Times article published on June 1.
