Phoenix’s two newest City Council members were sworn in Monday during a ceremony at Steele Indian School Park.
In her first official addresses as a member of council, Ann O’Brien depicted her district — District 1 in northwest Phoenix — as a district on the rise thanks to new jobs headed to the area. Yassamin Ansari depicted her district — District 7 in southwest Phoenix — as an area of the city that’s been overlooked and deserved more attention from City Hall.
Mayor Kate Gallego, Councilwoman Debra Stark and Councilwoman Betty Guardado were each sworn in for new terms.
