The Arizona Concours d’Elegance returns as the highlight of Arizona Car Week on Jan. 22, partnering with Scottsdale Arts to bring some of the world’s rarest and most valuable collector cars for display at Scottsdale Civic Center.
The Concours will occupy the newly renovated Scottsdale Civic Center, bordered by Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, a press release stated.
Tickets for this display of automotive design are available through the Scottsdale Arts box office. Spectators are encouraged to purchase tickets early to avoid missing out.
The theme of the 2023 Arizona Concours is The Art of Aerodynamics, with cars ranging from the early beginnings of streamlined vehicles, including classic race cars, up to the most exotic supercars of today.
“Scottsdale Arts and the city of Scottsdale are thrilled to welcome this premier automotive event to our calendar of arts and entertainment,” said Dr. Gerd Wuestemann, president and CEO of Scottsdale Arts, in the release.
The Arizona Concours' connection with Scottsdale Arts extends to its charitable efforts as a non-profit organization. Proceeds from the event will benefit local artists and the arts community.
The Concours will invite 90 select automobiles to be considered for judging and exhibition, with the best among them awarded class prizes and the coveted “Best of Show.”
The event, formerly held at the Arizona Biltmore Resort, is a curated and judged exhibition of select collector cars spanning all eras; the name Concours d’Elegance is a French term meaning “competition of excellence,” the release explained.
Arizona Car Week is the annual international gathering of high-powered collector car auctions and other automotive-related events.
Concours co-director Ed Winkler, a classic car enthusiast with his own collection, noted that the connection with Scottsdale Arts seems like a natural fit.
“By partnering with Scottsdale Arts, which is well-known for delivering artistic programs to the community, the Concours adds to the organization’s calendar of lifestyle events,” Winkler said.
