Numbers show burgeoning billion-dollar Arizona sports betting enterprise

January revenue totals catapult state into top 10

Arizona has emerged in just a few short months as a digital sports betting mecca as the Department of Gaming reports in January alone a staggering $563 million was accepted by betting operators across the Grand Canyon State.

Arizona gaming officials say the half-billion dollars in wagers set a new monthly record and puts the state in the top 10 of all wagering markets in the U.S.

“With over half a billion dollars wagered in January, it is clear that Arizona has become a top 10 event wagering market nationally,” said Ted Vogt, Arizona Department of Gaming director. “A big thank you to Arizona Department of Gaming staff and event wagering and fantasy sports stakeholders, whose work has contributed to the strong start in the state.”
