Taylor Swift's Glendale concert plays role in Valley rush hour

Posted

The Taylor Swift concert on Friday night in Glendale will cause heavier-than-normal rush-hour traffic along westbound Interstate 10 in Phoenix and Loop 101 in the West Valley, state transportation officials said.

Heavy traffic also can be expected for the second Swift concert on Saturday, March 18, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Fans traveling to the concert from the Chandler/southeast Valley region should consider using westbound/northbound Loop 202 to bypass I-10 in the downtown Phoenix area, ADOT advises while urging concertgoers to arrive early as parking at State Farm Stadium opens at noon.

Glendale will close Loop 101 on-ramps from about 5-7 p.m. to assist with traffic flow. Ramps affected are northbound on-ramps at Indian School Road, Camelback Road and Cardinals Way and the southbound on-ramp at Glendale Avenue, according to ADOT.

After the concert, Glendale will close the north- and southbound Loop 101 off-ramps at Cardinals Way from approximately 9 p.m. until midnight. The north- and southbound Loop 101 HOV off-ramps at Maryland Avenue also will be closed during this time as part of the city’s post-game traffic plan.
