Northwest Valley school district facing critical vote on new district boundaries

Deer Valley Unified School District has a lot riding on an expected vote next week to reboundary campuses in time for the 2026-27 school year, but a vocal group of parents fear there’s more on the line for students themselves.

While the agenda for next Tuesday’s governing board meeting isn’t out yet, a vote on whether to accept recommendations from the district’s long range planning committee to change some school boundaries is expected to be among the action items during the March 10 meeting.

Arizona’s fifth-largest school district is balancing current declining enrollment with an enrollment spike expected over the next few years due to an influx of new residents in the Deer Valley Unified footprint spurred by the arrival of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. in north Phoenix and Peoria.
