Northbound Interstate 17 is scheduled to be closed this weekend near Happy Valley Road in north Phoenix for pavement and bridge improvements.
The work will take place beginning Friday night, Feb. 21, and ending Monday morning, Feb. 24, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The road closure will be between Happy Valley Road and Loop 303, requiring closing of on-ramps at Deer Valley, Pinnacle Peak, Happy Valley and Jomax roads, ADOT officials said.
The primary detour will require northbound I-17 traffic to take westbound Happy Valley Road to northbound Lake Pleasant Parkway and eastbound Loop 303.
“To limit delays for you and others, use the primary detour even if a navigation app suggests another route,” transportation officials stated in a release. “Avoid using streets east of I-17 that are not designed to handle freeway traffic.”
Some street closures will be in place.
