North Phoenix shopping center delayed in planning process

A north Phoenix shopping center has been delayed by the site plan review process as developers work to make changes to meet the city’s site plan requirements.

The planned center will be west of the northwest corner of North Valley Parkway and Sonoran Desert Drive. The developer Norris Design plans a mix of retail and restaurants on the 6-acre property, including three drive-thru restaurants. The developer has not announced any planned shopping center tenants.

A new stretch of 29th Avenue will be built on the property’s western edge, including a traffic light at 29th Avenue and Sonoran Desert Drive. Norris Design is responsible to pay for 25% of the cost of the traffic light.
