Athletic director recovering from brain cancer surgery, chemo

Eric Gardner had a fairly ordinary week of work as Liberty athletic director Sept. 14-18.

And it felt like a breakthrough.

It was his first full week back at campus as Liberty High School’s athletic director since his successful June 12 surgery to remove a tumor from his brain at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix. He has been to work as much as possible previously, and to several games, but would need to miss days or parts of days for chemotherapy.
