Because of a logjam of cars constantly forming around Terminal 3 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, the city’s Aviation Department has eliminated the option to make a tight right turn from the terminal’s south side to the north side.
Traffic is instead sent on a half-mile detour.
The Aviation Department now plans to add signs and road striping to make the change permanent and will expand the road for smoother traffic flow at one part of the detour. Those changes are scheduled for completion by May 2022.
