Nieto: Carbon tax needed to spur green energy in America
One of the major points of the generational gap is how people spend their free time. To summarize it, which generation went outside to touch grass and which one is staying tied to the screens.
If we do not take action for our climate, our future generations will not have a choice and will stay inside indefinitely.

One of the major points of the generational gap is how people spend their free time. To summarize it, which generation went outside to touch grass and which one is staying tied to the screens.
If we do not take action for our climate, our future generations will not have a choice and will stay inside indefinitely.
COVID has already placed you inside because you can work from home. Your children can learn from home. Your entertainment can be streamed to your house. You can have your groceries delivered. We know that this lifestyle can exist in a manner, which is still productive.
If we continue to ignore the climate, spew pollutants into the air, if we do not tax the companies that produce the most emissions, living in Arizona will mean that you will have to be inside more. As our Arizona climate gets hotter, we will be forced to be comfortable to being inside our homes for longer periods of time.
There are consequences to not taking the climate crisis seriously, and for many of us in younger generations it causes mental anguish of what our future looks like. I think all generations can agree that it is hot here in Arizona, but it seems that there is a disconnect about the reality is that it is getting hotter.
We need to start taking action immediately. One of those necessary actions to take is to place a carbon tax to our polluters, such as the one described in the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act. With the carbon cash back, working families know that they can be assisted during a time of transitioning off fossil fuels.
We need to act fast. The next inter-generational conversation should not evolve into, “Who was able to play at all outside in the summer?”
