New West Valley police academy launched

Will train future Peoria Police officers

A new police academy recently opened in the West Valley that will be a source of recruit training for the Peoria Police Department.

The new facility is a partnership between Glendale Community College and nine cities — Avondale, Buckeye, El Mirage, Glendale, Goodyear, Peoria, Surprise, Tolleson and Wickenburg.

The full-time law enforcement training academy launched Sept. 26 and will serve the needs of their respective communities.
