New terminal is needed to keep up with Phoenix Sky Harbor demand

Plans already underway, scheduled to open in 2036

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is seeing more traffic. Soon, the airport’s two main terminals won’t be able to handle it.

That’s why Phoenix Aviation staff is already in the early planning stages for a new terminal, the West Terminal, which is scheduled to have its first phase break ground in 2032 and open in 2036.

Phoenix Deputy Aviation Director Jordan Feld presented about Sky Harbor’s capacity to an Aviation subcommittee on Tuesday.
