New Surprise fire station breaks ground
Construction begins on No. 308 at Litchfield, Cactus
Posted
Construction began Dec. 7 on the $7.1 million Fire Station 308 at the southeast corner of Litchfield and Cactus roads.
This voter-approved project is being funded by the 2017 Decide Surprise General Obligation Bond.
The southeast portion of Surprise, where the station will be located, continues to experience growth in new homes, commercial businesses and manufacturers. The new station will meet the growing needs of the community and help to ensure timely and appropriate response times into the future.
Fire Station 308 will be a nearly 16,000-square-foot multi-bay facility that will house an engine company, hazardous materials response team and future ambulance.
In addition to constructing the building, the bond approval also authorized purchase of a fire engine for the station.
Fire station 308 is expected to be complete in late 2021.
