Late Surprise City Councilmember Ken Remley was described as a man who “saw the best in Surprise” by his replacement on the council.

New District 4 Councilmember Johnny V. Melton used his district report during the Jan. 7 council meeting to remember Remley, who died at 80 two days before Christmas and eight days before his term was to end on the council.

Melton told a standing-room-only audience that Remley died in peace surrounded by those who cared for him.
