New state building policy affects Queen Creek’s undeveloped land

The state will no longer be issuing permits for new construction in the outlying areas of the Valley, including undeveloped land in Queen Creek, officials announced June 1.

At a press conference Thursday, Tom Buschatzke, the director of the Department of Water Resources, announced that a recently completed analysis of groundwater shows there will not be enough to meet the state-mandated assurance of a 100-year supply. The assurances are needed before any construction can commence.
