New single out from Arizona country legend Waylon Jennings

Work continues on unearthing unreleased new music from the late superstar’s vaults

One of Arizona’s favorite cowboys is back – again.

The legendary Waylon Jennings, who famously started his solo career back in Phoenix in the early 1960s and died in the Valley at age 64 in 2002, will see a rebirth this year as his son, Shooter Jennings, oversees the release of never-before-heard tapes from the vaults.

It all started back in June when Shooter announced that lost and forgotten tapes his dad recorded in the 1980s will yield three new albums of unreleased music. Fans got their first listen with the release of the single “Songbird,” a cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic, in June, and on Friday the Jennings estate released the second single of the new project, “The Cowboy.”
