New Scottsdale fire training facility cost balloons

City council approves extra $10 million for project

The cost of Scottsdale’s new fire department training facility has nearly doubled from the $18 million first pitched to voters in the 2019 bond election.

The Scottsdale City Council voted 6-1 during its meeting Feb. 14, to dedicate another $10 million to the project, bringing the total price tag for the facility to approximately $33 million.

The extra $10 million is needed due to inflation, according to city staff.
