The Beer Research Institute Taproom & Arcade south of Main Street and west of Robson in downtown Mesa has received a special-use permit for a sign plan from the Mesa Board of Adjustment.

The seven-member board conducts public meetings to hear and decide requests for variances, special-use permits and interpretations of the city of Mesa zoning ordinance and sign code. Members are appointed for staggered terms of three years, according to the city’s website.

The permit for the business on 0.2 acres in the downtown events overlay district was approved Sept. 6 by the Mesa Board of Adjustment in a 6-0 vote of a consent agenda with other items. Boardmember Troy Glover was absent.

Anthony Rodriguez of the city of Mesa is the applicant. Main Street West LLC is the owner.

The tap room and arcade, which opened in April 2022, is the Beer Research Institutes’s second location. Its original site is at 1641 S. Stapley Drive Suite No. 104 in Mesa, according to Facebook @thebeerresearchinstitute. The website is thebeerresearchinstitute.com.
