New report outlines spending for Scottsdale schools

Classroom instructional spending decreased last school year in Scottsdale Unified School District, a new report shows, falling from its 2021 average and coming in just below the 2022 state average.

According to the Auditor General’s Office annual report, released March 1, SUSD’s instructional spending for 2022 was 54.1%, while the state average was 54.5%. The prior year, 2021, Scottsdale’s instructional spending was 56.7%.

This means, 54.1 cents of every dollar for SUSD went to classroom costs, which covers everything from teachers and aides to instructional supplies, field trips and athletics.
